Simple Paper Trees
by Digger
This is a way for you to make a lot of nice looking palm style tree's in a very short space of time.
What you need
- Plain paper (printer paper is good)
- Sticky tape or PVA glue
- Cardboard (for basing)
- Flock
- Paint
Making the trees
Step 1
Cut out a peice of paper roughly 8x11cm. Draw a horizontal line across the paper about half way up the longest side. Then, using a ruler, draw some zig-zaging lines going from the line your drew to the edge of the paper. These are going to be the branches/leaves.

Step 2
Cut out the zig-zags you just drew so that you end up with a peice of paper that is spikey at one end.

Step 3
Using cylindrical object (eg: a pen), roll your paper so that is is tighly rolled with the spikes sticking out one end, secure it with some sticky tape. Then at the end with no spikes, make 3 or 4 5-10mm cuts and fold out the bottom, these will make little feet so that you have something to connect the tree to your base.

Step 4
Attach your tree to a suitable base (Car learner plates are great) using either sticky tape or PVA glue, then take out your pen again and curl all the braches outwards so that they look like palm tree's.

Step 5
Finally decorate your tree and base using whatever methods you like. I recommend painting the trunks with brown textured paint and dry brushing with a lighter brown, then spray the branches with a couple of different greens. Flock the base green after painting. For added detail, try using a hot glue gun to add some bristles from a front door mat to the bases of the trunks to give the tree a bit of an overgrown look.

While these tree's may not look as good as bought ones, you can make a hell of a lot of them in a very short space of time. They are so easy to make you can get some of your mates to help out, forming a production line. You will soon have a massive jungle for your Catachan or Lizardmen armies.
